After being picked up at the dock or your hotel, your bus transfere takes you on a brief ride around the South Shore. After leaving the Jolly Roger Marina we set sail west from Dixon's Cove past a sunken ship at Stamp Key and then make our way to the West End of Roatan Island under the main sail and spinnaker. Sightseeing from the water provides many photo opportunities. During this portion of the cruise passengers are served soft drinks and purified water with a light snack depending on the time of day. NO ALCOHOL IS SERVED BEFORE SNORKELING!
Caribbean music is played on the ships sound system. This part of the cruise takes one hour under sail and is extremely relaxing and peaceful. Roatan is a beautiful island and seen from the sea, it is spectacular.
Snorkeling and Lunch
After rounding the western end of the island at Light House Point we head directly to the first of two different snorkeling locations in the Roatan National Marine Reserve. Before arriving at the first snorkeling location our snorkeling instructor/crew member fits our snorkeling passengers with snorkeling equipment. All Jolly roger catamarans are specifically designed to provide EASY & SAFE access to the water and snorkeling via a center staircase that lowers between the two hulls to the water. The staircase provides a safety railing for entering and exiting the water. This is a special SAFETY feature found only on the Jolly Roger Catamarans in Roatan. Our snorkeling instructor then guides the snorkeling passengers to the best snorkeling sites. Another snorkeling instructor supervises your adventure from an inflatable kayak and serves as a general lifeguard.
After about 30 minutes of enjoying the local underwater flora and fauna, the Captain calls the snorkelers aboard and moves the catamaran to the second snorkeling location. While the snorkelers explore the underwater world, the crew prepares a Caribbean buffet lunch at the ships bar. (The light lunch buffet is only served on the Barefoot and Delux Tour). Generally, the lunch consists of Caribbean barbeque chicken, rice and beans, macaroni pie, salad, and a dessert. The OPEN BAR begins and guests can order rum drinks, fruit juice or soft drinks as they desire after they have finished snorkeling. After lunch relax and party as we sail to a white sand beach at the Gumbalimba Nature Park and Beach.
Gumbalimba Nature Park and Beach
This is a spectacular destination that provides the topping for a great day of sailing, snorkeling and partying. For those passengers who would like to have some white sand beach time, there are long stretches of it available. There are also chase lounges to use, more snorkeling for our enthusiasts, a beautiful pool, fresh water showers and changing rooms.
Also included in your Jolly Roger Cruise Ticket are these fine amenities of Gumbalimba Tropical Park and Beach.
Incredible botanical gardens, a great variety of Birds and Parrots, several varieties of Monkeys, Nature Caves with historical renditions of pirates and Caribbean tales, waterfalls, bridges, wood carvers, painters, dancers, and souvenirs.
You will then board the buses for a safe passage back to your Cruise Ship in plenty of time for your departure. |
